Schoolhouse in a Matchbox

Hawkins Elementary

In 2001, I made schoolhouses in a small matchbox for each of my children’s teachers.

In Mrs. Hawkins class, she had a snake in an aquarium, so see if you can find where it might be.

I made them the same but gave a different layout.

To make these, I painted the drawer part. I added foamcore floor and ceiling. This made the room more solid.

I used lots of printies for the exterior, floor, and other decorations.

The furniture was made using strip wood, then painted. The strip wood comes in various widths and thickness. I like to have on hand a package of each size of Midwest’s Basswood Architectural Scale Lumber.
